The clients bought this small well-built 1950 ranch because they loved the lot. Before planning the interior renovations and the master suite and garage additions, they had to decide what style of architecture they wanted for the finished house. The husband preferred a Craftsman style, because the existing house had a simple low-pitched gable. His wife always wanted a French Countryhouse, but that would mean raising the roof to create steep pitches typical of French country designs. They compromised on Tuscan Country, allowing them to keep the low-pitch roof, add some hip roofs, arches and incorporate stone and stucco.
